Individual Impact Of Individual Lives Saved

irma was the most non-adoptable dog, sick, pitbull but thanks to zsp she found the most amazing family

Born, in July 2012, rescued in July 2015, adopted in March 2018

Breed: “Mrs saddest eyes ever” - Yes, I am a pittie and sick and that is why I waited for 5 years in a kennel until ZSP helped me to find a home

Current Home: With Eliana and Alastair and their kids

My story: I came to the shelter in July 2015 after being abandoned on streets of Kipseli. A volunteer picked me up to be spayed but it was decided not to return me to the streets because of my soft character.  Street life would be hard for me.  I LOVE people, want to be cuddled all the time.

I am the most polite little girl, docile, well-tempered, sweet and very affectionate. I am not the bouncy girl and rather stay in the background. But my eyes are very expressive.

Because of my cross breed, it was much harder for me to find a home. I also have a Mediterranean disease, which can be treated with constant medicines, but which made me very sick.

For years, nobody was ever interested in me and that made me so incredibly sad. Although I was loved and cared for at the shelter, I got more and more depressed.

People who passed by my kennel said they had never seen a dog with so sad eyes.

Then ZSP got involved and spend a lot of time and resources to find me with a home. ZSP's co-founder is in love with me because of my very sweet nature. And they succeeded!

A friend of a friend of ZSP's co-founder Eliana from Vienna stepped forward. Eliana and Alastair are amazing people working in NGOs, doing a lot of humanitarian work and even having rescued a dog from Malawi in the past. They fell in love with me and they were not afraid of adopting a dog like me who did not have any chance of finding a home ever due to my bad health and my breed.

Eliana came all the way to Greece to pick me up and flew with me home to Vienna.

I was really craving for my home. So, after I got a little better to fly and after speaking to the local vets, it was decided that I will have the best chance of getting better when I will be in a home and hence I flew to Vienna. Since my arrival, I had ups and downs health wise in the first 2 weeks but the amazing Eliana and Alastair put all their time, love and dedication into looking after me and after seeing the vet almost every day for seven days, I am now doing so much better!!! And I am soooooooooo happy!!

Alastair and Eliana and the kids are all madly in love with me and that is exactly what I need to get well - next to medicines and vets!

It is a miracle and my lifelong dream to finally live in a home has come true thanks to ZSP and their efforts not to give up on me. I now have my own loving family who treat me like a princess. I sleep in a warm and cozy bed with my own blanket, have my own big garden and my new dog friend Maddie.

Tears of joy and happiness rolled down ZSP's cheeks when I got adopted.

A true miracle and a wonderful happy ending !
